Announcement coming?

Well, I guess I'm not a blogging virgin anymore. After making my first blog entry, it felt like some of the weight was lifted off my shoulders.

Rumour has it that the corp will be making a major announcement next week. Details are sketchy, so I won't get into any speculation at this time. However, the anticipated announcement is rumoured to have very little, or nothing to do with negotiations

I'll do my best to add an entry on a daily basis.

Quietly typing, somewhere during the lock out.

ooo a big announcement !!!
sketchy details!!
we'll take em- if they're details then they're not speculation
could it be slawko's successor?
or are they going to re-institute free coffee for everyone inside during the lockout?

You may get some anger directed at you, brace yourself. Realize that it's just because the opportunities to vent at the upper management are limited to nil for most. Unless you happen to be Prez, Vice Prez or on the (non) Bargaining Committee, you are simply a victim of this (albeit a well paid victim).

You've told us how burned out you are. We believe it, because many of it have pulled the kinds of shifts you're pulling many times. But you have not told us how you feel about the lockout. And if there is anyone on "the inside" planning to do something about it, anonymous or otherwise.

Only the unrealistic would expect you to walk off the job enmasse, we are all too aware that you have mortgages, daycare, groceries to buy. But, if your doom and gloom turns into a need to take action, there are some things you can do. First, keep any real info from the inside coming. Second, how about an open letter from the "locked in". They can't fire you all, cause who would be there to take in the BBC feeds or (no offence if you are one of them), write the truly bland, unimaginitive and barely understandable copy.
If signing your name to an open letter is not your cup of tea, perhaps a letter among those of you on the inside signed only "disgruntled middle management" or something of the like.
Of course you would have to reveal your identity confidentially to one locked out journalist (I'm sure you know many you could trust to keep your identity secret) to verify that it's really coming from the inside and could be circulated as truth.
This would serve two purposes. One it would demonstrate that this lockout is only supported by a few upper, upper managers. Second, it will make it much easier to mend fences when the troops get back to work.

For all of us, I hope that's soon. I think you have the power to give it a nudge, if you're so inclined.

Oh, Christ. Ominous announcement, well, maybe. No details.

This should help calm the paranoia.

Keep 'em coming Charlie. I know of one middle manager that is having a severe crisis of conscience and I respect him/her immensely.
I would like to think there are more of you, but I remain skeptical. Actions speak louder than words...although your words are a good start.
Try to find out who your allies are and begin to take a stand. There are people who are losing their homes, along with their livelihoods. Don't wait. It's up to you.

I think I remember reading that promoting the fall launch (for A & E anyway) is somehow supposed to go ahead as scheduled.

Perhaps that is the so-called big announcement.

But if it's not related to the lock-out, then I don't give a shit.

--Keeps the blogs from the insiders who miss the outsiders coming--please and thanks--

Anyone inside know who's incharge. If Bobby and Dickey tell the union that there are no pre conditions to restarting talks..and some senior negotiator says that's not so then who is building their empire inside the CBC and with what authority. I put that question to MP Scott Simms this afternoon. He's on the Heritage Committee. He was surprised to hear it and puzzled. Maybe he can find out who's in charge. If it's not dick or jane or bobby..maybe freddy is running the corp....may be fodder for a new cbc sitcom...he slawk...shit he's gone just when i have the perefect proposal.
